This atmospheric and rather moody black and white ad for
the Acura is the brand's second particularly post heavy
job for Glassworks.
As the car in question drives along a mountainside road,
a sign looms picturing hairpin bends approaching. These curves
would normally prove to be a bit of a challenge for a normal
S.U.V. (Sport Utility Vehicle to the baffled Brits amongst
you), but not for the Acura. It handles the tight bends easily
as the road rises and falls with its movement, pinning it
to its track, finally settling back in a puff of dust as the
vehicle speeds away. An American movie-trailer-like voiceover
states: "Technology takes it to a whole new place".
The commercial was shot in San Francisco, where James and
Glyn supervised the shoot to ensure a super slick post production
job. James built and designed the road elevation hydraulics;
the car was animated by Juan and rendered by Sam. Mike Wolff
was responsible for the previz and the modelling of the pistons.
Glyn then embarked on two weeks of Flame, supported by James,
Mike and Stuart.
