These two commercials to raise Aids Awareness in women
get their message across in entirely opposite ways.
In a very earnest "Shot", 3 couples are having sex in different
environments. A melancholy piano tune plays in the background.
As each pair finishes the act, the man pulls a gun, which
he has kept close to hand, from the glove compartment of the
car, from a bedside table and out of a bag. Each of them points
their weapon at their smiling partner, the anticipated shooting
of the gun acting as a metaphor for the virus they may have
passed on. We close on a shot of a bullet inside a condom,
a highly effective image.
"The Joy of Non Sex" gets its message across in a more comedic
fashion. In a 70's "Joy of Sex" style, the ad demonstrates
three sexual positions that guarantee no satisfaction for
either party: "The Sting", a mere touching of buttocks, "The
Lock of Gibraltar", a mutual grabbing of legs and "The Journey
of the Otter", a hilarious scene where our hairy moustachioed
chap simply leaves the room. The message: Wear a condom and
you can actually have some fun!
The grades were created by Glassworks' two telecine artists.
Tareq created the grade on 'Shot' and Vic Parker on 'The Joy
of Non Sex'. Diego and Tristian conformed "Shot" and "The
Joy of Non Sex" respectively. |
