his highly charged commercial for EA Sports' latest
FIFA game should really psyche up the footie fans out there.
We open on an ominous note, a man rocking back and forth in
his chair. The voiceover states that "reality's just a dream".
An old lady peers around her door downstairs and for the first
few seconds we'd be forgiven for assuming he's in some kind
of mental institution until our man packs his bag, leaves
the house and heads for the football stadium.
He wanders into the crowd, one of many thousands of fans,
but then surprises us by jumping over the barrier, unhindered
by the police guard. He strolls onto the pitch, pulling a
football out of his bag and ends up face to face with two
of the world's biggest players, Rooney and Ronaldhino. The
huge crowd cheers as he throws his head back and roars in
the centre of the pitch. He is living his dream.
Glassworks played a sizeable and yet unnoticeable role in
the ad. Diego in Flame and Daniel in 3D worked closely on
the post-heavy project. The stadium, originally shot in Barcelona,
had to be rebuilt to resemble a generic football arena. The
crowd had been shot on green screen and painstakingly composited
into the stands, all 11,647 of them in one particular shot!
By the same token, Rooney and Ronaldhino had to be comped
onto the pitch. Diego also designed the titles and Daniel
had to track the camera movements in 3D, as much of the ad
was shot using handheld cameras. |
